The Japanese lexical transducer based on stem-suffix style forms
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper depicts an optimal method to construct a lexical transducer for Japanese by describing the stems and suuxes in diierent lexicons separately and adding an extra level of the transducers for transducing between canonical citation forms and stem-suux style forms. This method makes it possible to reduce the complexity of rule descriptions and the computational load of intersecting compared with other methods. We made the full-size lexical transducer for Japanese. The number of states is about 60 thousand and the number of arcs is about 300 thousands. The physical size is from 800KB to 1.5MB depending on compaction methods.

متن کاملStem allomorphy in the Spanish mental lexicon: evidence from behavioral and ERP experiments.
This study presents results from a nonce-word elicited production task and a reading experiment using event-related brain potentials (ERPs) investigating finite forms of Spanish verbs which consist of marked stems and regular person and number agreement suffixes. The first experiment showed that unmarked stems are productively extended to nonce words, whereas marked stems generalize more restri...
متن کاملPhonetic Reflexes of Morphological Boundaries at a Normal Speech Rate
Our production experiment in Scottish English revealed that the duration of a rhyme immediately followed by a Level II suffix such as –s (the 1 person singular/plural/possessive suffix) and –t (the past tense suffix) was significantly longer than that of a monomorphemic counterpart. Such a durational difference between suffixed forms and monomorphemic forms was absent when the Level II suffix w...
متن کاملComputing with Realizational Morphology
The theory of realizational morphology presented by Stump in his influential book Inflectional Morphology (2001) describes the derivation of inflected surface forms from underlying lexical forms by means of ordered blocks of realization rules. The theory presents a rich formalism for expressing generalizations about phenomena commonly found in the morphological systems of natural languages. Thi...
متن کاملWord-stem tones cue suffixes in the brain
High and low tones on Swedish word stems are associated with different classes of suffixes. We tested the electrophysiological effects of high and low stem tones as well as tonally cued and uncued suffixes. Two different tasks were used involving either choosing the suffix-dependent meaning of the words, or pressing a button when the word ended. To determine whether effects were in fact due to ...
